One of the easiest ways to be “VIP” and gain “all access” during Winter Music Conference for the last few years has been the limited “Fuck You” wristbands. For 2010, they start at $600 (plus $45 service fee) for Platinum and $1,000 for Black and are available until they are sold out. They are one of the most coveted items of WMC each year, so be quick on your purchase. There are only 100 bands of each.

Read this before you buy…

What do you get? A plastic band that goes around your wrist that says “Fuck You”. Not enough? They also throw in jumping the line que, just raise your hand to show your band and get right into the party. Plus, a top shelf open bar – all beers, Grey Goose, Redbull, Patron, and most liquors available for your consumption at no cost.

What nightclubs and parties is it good for? It is NOT good for every club. Only good for Vice Venture venues which include Space and The Terrace, Park West, The Pool Parties at Surfcomber, Cameo (now with Opium Group),  Vice (closed), Rehab Bar (closed) – anytime of the day. *Now that most of the venues in Miami (Mansion, Set, Cameo, Louis, & Mokai opening in February) are owned by the Opium Group. Where & when to buy yours. The only place to buy them is from WantTickets mid to late February until their sold out.

My Tips. The more people that know about them (sorry everyone), the more they sell…and the worse the “VIP” advantage gets. Imagine 200 people at one party trying to jump the line que and fighting over the open bar…it could happen.

In 2008, the wristband was amazing because the Space group put on most of the major parties and only 24 bands were sold so it was incredibly VIP for only $800…the cost of one VIP table at that time. You NEED to get yours as soon as they go on sale to 1) get the cheapest price and 2) get them before they are sold out.

If you have the cash – buy two FU wristbands. Keep one and sell the other for $1,000+ during the week. You can make an easy $500.

Last tip, practice saying…“F*ck You” I have my wristband.

The big question for 2010 is that is the wristband really worth it. Will you buy it or say fuck you?
