I see Pacha is going to have a party and Circo Loco. Any other Ibiza clubs/parties happening at the WMC?

WMC is the perfect recipe for a tourist to get no drugs, fake drugs or robbed. Here is why….

It is WMC/Spring Break week. That means lots of tourists, many of whom flew down. Even domestic flights are nerve-racking to transport drugs on, much less international. The locals you will encounter aren't exactly the friendliest, midwesterners you'll meet. The east coast mentality isn't always the most charitable at 3am when trying to have a good time. And then there are the predators. Trying to sell you fake stuff or worse, to rob you. Be very weary.

I have seen friends have success only after befriending a group of people at a day party who all had jacked up pupils. Be extremely careful. It isn't impossible but it is a tough, tough time and place for that.

If you get your own bed, couch or futon to sleep on, stay at your friends. Even if you stay at the coolest hotel, your going to be venturing out plenty. And the coolest hotel is going to cost several hundred per day more than your friends. If you have to sleep on your friends tile floor (everyone has a tile floor down there), you won't get the sporadic recharge you need here and there when you do occasionally shut your eyes. You will be more of a zombie than the rest of us with actual mattresses to sleep on. I know it doesn't seem possible but you will be.

    Free Bed > hotel access

There are about 500 parties. They aren't all networked. Just the official ones. Less than half.

yes i can! we will be posting a Best Parties of WMC 2010 in the coming weeks once all the parties are announced.

once you buy a ticket for that event you are guaranteed admittance for that party – however, if they party is at capacity you will have to wait. it is best to get to the party early

I don't know if it was an exception or things have changed but in WMC ¨06 I had already bought my ticket for the F*** Me I´m Famous Party @ Cameo and couldn't get in because they were at capacity (of course I got there late).. a lot of ticket holders stayed out. I got a refund but it was a pretty lame experience.

    Hi,

Do you know contact information for ultra organizers? I can't seem to be able to find any information on how to obtain a press pass on their website.

Get a press pas from winter music conference – it should be good for umf

  15. nightlyfe
    Posted February 4, 2010 at 6:39 pm | Permalink

that is very rare with the FU band. there is ALWAYS an exception…if they are at capacity, it is illegal to let anyone in and they should get shut down so of course they are not going to let anyone in.

If one isn't a “certified” member of the press according to WMC's standards, how might he or she go about obtaining press credentials? I would love nothing more than seeing some of my favorite performers up close and personal…

  17. Posted February 7, 2010 at 4:55 pm | Permalink

two ways – just bring your press credentials and show at door OR contact the promoter before hand and get on their press list.

if you ARE press then you should have no problem. if you are just trying to take photos for your own blog then don’t expect to be considered apart of the “press” :)

that info is top secret and not publicized until day of umf. we will work on it for you though.

  26. nightlyfe
    Posted February 11, 2010 at 12:28 pm | Permalink

the “conference” is just that, the conference. the conference consists of events and seminars produced by the WMC org. ALL parties that are produced AROUND the conference are 100% independent. anyone could throw a party on april 3rd and say its apart of wmc…but it would not be official.

    Posted February 11, 2010 at 12:32 pm | Permalink

Rubin – all these parties you listed are going to be insanely fun and well worth the cost. WHO DO YOU REALLY WANT TO SEE PERFORM? thats the question you need to ask. also, you may want to consider the All Access Pass since all of these venues are owned by Opium group, you can just get the all access pass and go to all these parties without paying for tickets….that will give you the opportunity to check out all these parties.

fuck me i am famous party…i am kind of up in the air, its an old running party and nothing much changes year to year so if you have been to one in the past, you may consider skipping it this year.

poolsides? hard pool party will be off the chain. dj mag pool parties are sold out. surfcomber is really a lot of new york techno heads.

  31. Posted February 13, 2010 at 5:54 pm | Permalink

its also important to arrive early if you are going to an rsvp only party, as they usually reach max capacity early in the night.

  32. Posted February 13, 2010 at 5:59 pm | Permalink

from experience it is way easier to purchase tickets at the door. I've never bought a presale ultra ticket.

Is there typically a long line to get into the various areas during Ultra?

The one reason that I was going to buy VIP is because I read that there's a separate entrance to the shows, and so I figured I'd save time.

    Any truth to this?

  35. nightlyfe
    Posted February 17, 2010 at 11:25 pm | Permalink

long line for bathroom and general admission yes. bar line is about equal.

best thing about UMF VIP is clean bathroom and cleaner bar :) waiting in line is where i meet new friends.

since juicy beach is both a day and night party, what is the dress code (for guys and ladies)?

  39. ammora
    Posted February 18, 2010 at 6:21 pm | Permalink

A lot of the horror stories you hear about long lines and people never getting in are for parties that were oversold or the club reached capacity. Space used to have a horrible time with this, the fire marshal would shut it down if there were too many people.
Last year the DJ Mag pool party was an absolute nightmare scenario. $10 tickets meant everyone in Miami was coming to this party all around the same time–reached capacity quick and the line sat for hours. It was a waste of $10 and perfectly good afternoon partying time.
So rule of thumb, if you're going to an event with a lot of hype around it, or the tickets were super cheap with a knockout lineup, go early! Don't try to be fashionable late or you'll never get in.

  40. ammora
    Posted February 18, 2010 at 6:24 pm | Permalink

Should be noted, if the parties you are interested in are tied into the actual conference itself, you should inquire about getting a WMC Badge for press purposes–you'll encounter far less road blocks getting into parties throughout the week as the people at the door are looking for the WMC badges as credentials.

  41. ammora
    Posted February 18, 2010 at 6:25 pm | Permalink

Unless you cannot live without the full lineup at Space and Surfcomber this year, save your money and don't bother with the $1100 FU band. The price is the highest its ever been, with the fewest clubs and DJs lined up, and the least amount of VIP Privies.

One day tickets don't usually go on sale til beginning of March. They're usually around $120-$150 plus service charge and shipping–you'd do better buying the 2 day combo right now and selling the Friday ticket if you're just looking to go Saturday–or vice versa.
At the door they're almost always $150+

find someone who went on Friday or is going Friday to get you a site map and schedule, they hand them out when you go into the festival on friday. This will help you plan for Saturday.

  49. ammora
    Posted February 18, 2010 at 6:39 pm | Permalink

wouldnt risk it…parties are pretty strict 21+ and they check ID everywhere…usually with that little handheld machine that they scan your ID through to make sure its valid since there are people from all over the country/world showing up.
