  9. Have all personal documents, money and travelers checks in order
  10. Make sure you photo copy all important documents and put them in the hotel safe
  11. If you have any personal or professional people you want to contact, fire off an email a week before the event
  12. Invest in a throw away wallet and only carry what you are going to need (you just never know)
  13. If you plan on doing some site seeing via walking, take a good comfortable pair of shoes
  14. Bring sun screen, nothing says newbie like a burn
  15. Even if you don’t plan on hooking up, bring condoms or be on birth control.
  16. Camera, video camera and back up batteries.
  17. Take care of  your self before you go away…eat well and get plenty of sleep, especially if you are planning on going to the parties (and you are going to want to)
  18. Drink plenty of water, keep hydrated while you are there
  19. Double check all your bags and pockets before packing, you don’t want an unexpected event at the airport. Leave the drugs at home.
  20. Invest in a calling card, trust me, I’ve paid dearly once I’ve returned home from my money hungry cell phone provider
  21. If you are going to be stepping out in the scene, bring proper attire (shoes and collared shirt), some places may have dress codes
  22. Make sure people have a way of getting in contact with you. Remember to call your mother, let her know where you will be for the week.
  23. Double check your flight information and hotel accommodations before you leave, you don’t want to get there and find out it wasn’t booked right
  24. Lastly, have fun. You are going to want to take pictures and video to remember your amazing time.

  1. [...] Rule #7 – Pack carefully. Think of Winter Music Conference as a rigorous test of endurance and prepare accordingly. Sunscreen is vital for survival. So are comfortable shoes, Band-Aids, Tylenol and water. Make sure to raid your medicine cabinet before leaving your house for your travels. You probably already own the necessities you need to survive with, there is no point in wasting the money buying everything again. Also, don’t pack a lot of valuables, you’re going to be drinking and partying and let’s face it, drunk you is a lot less reliable than sober you. Check out our checklist on what to bring to Winter Music Confernce. [...]
