Ultra or No Ultra? That is the “Ultra”mate question!

ultra music festival

For those “hating” on Ultra Music Festival, encouraging WMC attendees to hit up the pool parties and clubs instead, listen up!  Attending Ultra Music Festival at Bicentennial Park, surrounded by towering buildings and downtown bright lights, engulfed in the Miami heat, is the ultimate way to close out your WMC experience.

2 full day’s worth of your favorite DJs, both homegrown and international!  Everything from the dirty house beats of Robbie Rivera to the to the airy trance melodies of the Dutch legend Armin Van Buuren.  An almost palpable passion and connection between electronic music lovers can be felt. This is what makes Ultra so special. You can’t quite get this feeling anywhere else. You can mingle at the funky drum ‘n’ bass stage, grab a Red Bull and vodka, check out who is playing at the Amnesia Ibiza tent, then be mesmerized by the tantalizing tunes and laser beams in the Carl Cox tent… At Ultra, the music world is your oyster.

Tips for Ultra virgins:

  • Be prepared to get not only down and dirty with the music, but just plain old dirty! My once white skirt, later a muddy brown, showed my “battle wounds” from Saturday of the festival. Nevertheless, we cabbed it over to South Beach for Round 2 at Mansion!!
  • If you need a break from all of the action, take a walk through the Eco Village, where 20 + charity groups and non-profit organizations set up post. My personal favorite is Dance 4 Life (supported by loved DJ Tiesto—you’ve all heard the song!), which supports finding a cure for AIDS.
  • Glowsticks and rave gear are not, in fact, out of style or “too 90s” here! If you’re not participating, at least people watch; many of the Ultra inspired outfits you’ll see you will never catch at your local mall.
  • Lastly, be sure to make new friends! You will meet some of the most unique people from all over the world right here in Miami. I think the words from the self-made shirts of our adorable new friends (a gay couple from the Mid-West) really sum up Ultra:  “We’re having super, Ultra, mega fun!!”

What time does Ultra finish on the Fri & Sat? Wanna know whether its worth organising tickets to club gigs on the same nights.

Ultra goes until midnight both nights…. def plan on going to a club afterwards, at least for Day 2… It is such a high then a big let down when it’s over!! You’ll need to go out :P

I agree with Kelsey! After its over….you start the countdown for the next ultra….but not until you hit up a club or two! Ultra 2010 is a must.
