Starting as early as January, you can RSVP for free WMC parties which can save you hundreds of dollars and get you into dozens of parties throughout the week of Winter Music Conference. I suggest searching specifically for parties whose admission fee states “Free with RSVP”. Many of these are pool parties and night events which are record label or artist management showcases taking place at a lounges or hotels throughout Miami Beach and Downtown Miami. Read more…

The Intricate Beauty Album Release Party w/ King Britt (Wednesday)
Slippery Glitch Hop Party (Saturday)
Alter Ego (Tuesday)
Amenti Music Showcase (Wednesday)
Basic NYC All Stars (Saturday)
City Deep Music Showcase (Thursday)
Cr2 Records Present Live & Direct (Wednesday)

Your RSVP will get your name on their guest list (and mailing list) and gives you the peace of mind of not having to pay the cover charge at the door.  You will be surprised to find that many free parties will have a more than decent line-up with top quality DJ’s on the bill.

My Tips

  1. Check for new parties weekly. New free parties are added every day so you should check out the list once a week.
  2. Arrive early. Most venues have a limited capacity and will no longer admit anyone, even with RSVP, once at capacity.  Be sure to arrive early (before 5pm for day parties and before midnight at evening events) to ensure entry.
  3. Use your personal contacts. If you happen to be one of the lucky few who is friends with a DJ spinning at a given party, now is the time to start asking them to put you and your friends on their guest list.  If they agree, you will be in an exclusive club of individuals who can boast of having partied on behalf of a performing DJ during Winter Music Conference!

Last year there were more than 100 free parties that took place during Winter Music Conference. See you in Miami!

when an event is free with WMC Badge but in admission says with RSVP…. I need to make a reservation? for example:
Event: Amenti Music / Solid Tokyo Showcase
    Admission: Guestlist only
WMC Badge Policy: Free with WMC Badge

Its always safe to RSVP to get directly on the promoters list at the door. there may be three lines!

    1) general admission 2) wmc badge holders and 3) rsvp …. if you have a badge and rsvp you can get in the shortest line! :)

plus, having a wmc badge may only mean DISCOUNTED entry…meaning you still have to pay something

Free parties are what made my WMC trip last year. Darren can tell you. Another suggestion is getting on as many mailing lists, blogs, facebook fan pages, twitter accounts, and label websites to get the latest scoop on any free parties. Some parties can pop up the week of, so always keep checking.
