Om Records Party of Winter Music Conference 2010…San Francisco’s Om Records has a distinct history of pushing the envelope in electronic music. They are partly responsible for the development of the West Coast House Sound, (See: early Kaskade, JT Donaldson, Fred Everything) they helped to popularize Down-tempo/chill out music as a more grown-up electronic sound, (See: Mark Farina’s Mushroom Jazz series, the OM Lounge series) and with their OM Hip Hop division they bridged the gap between underground hip-hop, jazz, funk, and chill out (See: People Under the Stairs, J-Boogie’s Dubtronic Science).
Even with that storied history, you have to be impressed with the lineup for their 2010 Winter Music Conference party, which will take place at Klutch, right on South Beach on Collins Ave.
This event is not just a lineup of Om’s roster, which is what most labels will do for their WMC bash. This party does have some of their best house music artists, like Colette, Pezzner, and Fred Everything. They are also importing some of the most exciting acts in the indie dance/nu disco scene, bringing in Classixx, Treasure Fingers, The Revenge, and one of my personal favorites, Aeroplane. They are also giving homage to the jazzy/house/broken beat sound, with Peter Kruder, Jazzanova, and Mark Farina.
All in all, this is going to be one long night of great music and great people! See you on the floor!
