Shilo Urban (Editor in Chief) is a professional freelance writer living in Los Angeles whose work and life centers around the international electronic dance music community. You can find Shilo’s writings and interests on her own blog, Dance Fever 5000, which has been linked to from the BBC. You can find Shilo at Winter Music Conference 2010 helping throw a GlitchFM show.
Courtney Rickett (Party Editor) – Owner and founder of Confined Media, Courtney has been attending Winter Music Conference since 2005 and has developed her own system for best managing WMC parties.
Ryan Hicks (Music Editor) hasn’t been sure if he’s been dreaming or awake for the last 10 years, but he does know that he’s heard a lot of great electronic music in either case. Ryan wandered into the life of a Navy journalist turned part-time essayist and full-time music producer. He eventually realized what those skills really amounted to – watching carefully and listening closely. He either lives in Seattle or The Nonsense Forest in La La Neverneverland.
Whitney Lawson (Media Coordinator) Born and raised near Miami, Brittany attended her her fist Winter Music Conference event at Space when she was only 15. Since then she has been attending WMC and knows far to well the obsession of spending hours planning which parties to attend, which performers to see, stalking websites for lineup updates, and how important it is to keep that information coming in a relevant and timely manner.
Melanie Gapany (Contributor) is the Co -Founder and Editor in Chief of one of the East Coast’s most popular online nightlife magazine Smile for Camera and regular contributing writer for the Orlando Weekly Newspaper, URB Magazine and The Examiner. Melanie has lived and worked in Miami most of her life and has covered Winter Music Conference 2009 and 2008.
Emmy Acosta (Public Relations) is originally from the Dominican Republic, but college brought her to Miami in 2001 where she has been attending Winter Music Conference ever since. Emmy has been an electronic music enthusiast for over ten years and writes for her own blog What time is your flight? which covers electronic music festivals in US and Canada.
Liz Jennings (Fact Checker) was born and raised in South Florida, and is currently living the dream in New York City. She has attended Winter Music Conference every year since 1997 – 2010 will be her 13th year! Liz attends WMC each year for the full experience, and attended the first 2 Ultra Festivals that were held on the beach.
Darren Lamison-White (Contributor) has been an electronic music enthusiast for nearly a decade. Currently, Darren is living between his home-town of Washington, DC and New York City, while making stops in Mexico, and of course South Beach. Darren’s pursuit of top-notch music and quality nightlife has lead him to attend Winter Music Conference from 2007 to 2009.
LaToya Jackson (Contributor)is a dance/pop songwriter out of Atlanta, Georgia where she has worked in entertainment law. LaToya is managing our compilation download, “It’s Electric!”, which will showcase new and upcoming artists that will be performing during Winter Music Conference 2010 in Miami.
Kelsey Plunkett (Contributor) went to Ibiza in 2005 and left a passionate electronic music junkie. Kelsey currently resides in the infamous party town of Jersey Shore, and is a middle school teacher.Kelsey seeks out her favorite DJs, particularly her trance kings Tiesto, Armin, and PVD, all around the country, and is counting down the days until WMC 2010!
John Stephen (Contributor) – Originally from the UK, but raised in Europe and Asia, John now lives and works in Hong Kong helping to organize and coordinate a range of events and gigs across the region, including Ministry of Sound and Hed Kandi. An aspiring DJ, John is eagerly anticipating his third consecutive WMC. Follow John’s tweets at @John_Aberdeen.
Adam Foster (Contributor) Originally from Philadelphia, PA, but currently living attending college in South Florida, Adam founded Twilight Notes, a DJ/production company that specializes in lounge, jazz, and deep house. You can find him at TwilightNotes.com, and at upscale lounges and clubs all over Miami and South Florida.
