Brooklyn Bound: Update on The Brooklyn Yard

The Yard

Image via STG54

+++UPDATE+++

Good news everyone!!!!!!  Sunday Best will return this summer at BKLYN Yard! Residents Justin Carter, Eamon Harkin & Doug Singer will be joined by special guests every Sunday from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend.

More details coming soon.

———

My favorite place to be during the summer months is the Brooklyn Yard.  What was once the home solely to Eamon Harkin and Justin Carter’s killer party, Sunday Best, shared the wealth with the MeanRed girls last summer.  MeanRed confirmed they will be back again this summer, but no word if ‘Sunday Best‘ will return to The Yard for their long running weekly party.   I sure effing hope they do.  Sunday Best is by far the best party slash ultimate hang session BK’s ever seen.  People be getting DOWN at The Yard.

PS: There is also no word if MeanRed will be letting me host a party there this summer, but I sure as hell hope so!

Mark It Down: Valentine’s Day Pajama Party Meatup

Tis the season once again.  Check out this new event that BK Hookup is hosting.  Get your swag on.

via BK Hookup

Come dressed in your finest PJs for the most off the hook Valentine’s party E-V-E-R. If, and only if, you buy an advance ticket, we’ll match each and every one of you up with your one true lurv (or someone close) upon arrival.

Comedian Sara Schaefer will be back with some sexy bedtime stories and other crazy shenanigans (remember the wet T-shirt contest??). Outrageous hook up games by special guest performance artists (including Blizzard the Bunny of Club Animals) will guarantee you seven minutes in heaven. Plus, DJ French Toast, Jason Baker, DJ Workhorse (AKA Jonny Con Carne) and DJ Just Iz will keep you dancing well past bedtime, and we’ll have FREE Lillet cocktails and Smuttynose IPAs from 7-8pm, and $3 Busch beers the rest of the night to keep the slumber party in full swing.

For those who are up for some extra down-n-dirty matchmaking, we have specially priced tickets for speed dating, hosted by Miss Jinners from Union Hall’s I Heart Nerds Speed Dating. (you know…for peeps who are REALLY serious about finding a Valentine before the big day). We’ll have three 45 minute sessions, where we get busy hookin all your asses up in the front lounge, but you’ve got to be in it to win it! Make sure you choose the 7:30 time slot when you purchase your tickets, for a guaranteed speed dating slot.

And if cheap dates are more your thang, you can join in on the fun for just $7 at the door after 10pm.

We want to even up the playing field, so to guarantee an even ratio, men’s tickets are on sale here, and ladies’ tickets are on sale here.

RSVP on Facebook too if you want to see some pics of the hotties that will be there.

Party&Bullshit: Donuts Are Forever 4 – J Dilla Tribute

The late James Yancey aka J Dilla was one of the most influential producers and beat makers of hip hop music since. He was a pioneer in his field since the late nineties and has worked with Common, Busta Rhymes, A Tribe Called Quest, and my fave Erykah Badu, just to name a few.  His life was cut short when he died in 1996 from complications from Lupus. Every year Rare Form and Ladies Love NYC throw a huge tribute party to honor the life and this Saturday marks the fourth anniversary.  Long time Dilla friend and fellow Soulquarian founder, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson with be headlining,  It’s going to be a dope show and is sure as shit going to filled with good music and good people.
