“Let me introduce myself though you might not care…. I’m the voice from across the room …. you can look just don’t stare…” These are lyrics from “Introducing” track 6 of the latest artist album by Ryan Xristopher. The album is called Structure released by confined media, listen by clicking the cover art.
Sorry for the shameless plug… but it’s music and it fits… moving on with the introduction…
I’ve been going to music events since I was 3. My mom (not knowing the impact it would have now) took me to bumbershoot every year until I was “old enough” ~ I always wondered how this age is determined. I think in this case it was 14, the age I was when she stopped wanting to go and “deal” with the crowds. Since then I’ve gone to many shows, events, raves, parties, clubs, after parties and festivals to see bands, singers, musicians of all types, Dj’s, producers, live acts, consisting of a wide range of genres electronic, acoustic, and every combination. I’ve preformed in many different types of venues from churches to dark warehouses. I have even thrown my own shows in several different cities and been apart of planning a float for a music parade , and continue to do so occasionally. Overall I would say that I love music and the sharing of that music in a public forum, because there is something about the energy when you GO OUT to see an artist perform that cannot be duplicated. Even if a performer were able to be exactly the same each time he or she performed, the two events would be different because of the audience. That is one reason I go to see the same artist more than once, even if I didn’t like the 1st time ’cause at the very least it will be different. In all of these different experiences I’ve learned how to almost* always enjoy myself and very rarely cancel plans the day after a late night (including plans like school and work). I’ve also seen many other people experience terrible nights filled with drama and sickness, or day after complete fail that has sometimes had extreme consequences.
My plan for this blog is to discuss my experiences going to events past and ongoing and share ways that I have found to avoid bad nights, drama, sickness, and also ways to have A GREAT NIGHT with out compromising your responsibilities the next day. I will also try and provide event listings by city for events that i know about and would recommend for good music, mostly they will be techno parties, but I like all types of music so it will not limited by genre. Overall I want a platform to share, music, stories, current event listings. I hope you read and enjoy. Feel free to comment or write me an email with questions or if you disagree or if I’m wrong – and I’ll do my best to answer quickly.
